Favorite Poems by Others

I have been reading and writing poetry since the second grade. Okay, I wasn’t writing poetry in the second grade, it was more alternate versions of the likes of “Roses are red….” But I was reading it because my wonderful second grade teacher, Mrs. Dodd, made it part of our daily curriculum. We copied famous poems (like The Daffodils by Wordsworth) and others. Then we read them aloud.

Also, my great grandfather on my mother’s side was a published poet (some from him at a later time) and my mom was always reciting poetry she loved.

These early influence stuck. I took a lot of advanced poetry class (while getting by B.S. in Finance). I have gathered and read well over a hundred books of poetry by specific authors and numerous anthologies. I have so many favorites, it will take a long time to get them all into this blog. But I will plod along.
