BluesAintNothingBookCover“WHO AM I in my world?” may be one of the most difficult questions to answer. We have to attain perspective of ourselves to discover our own uniqueness. For one thing, we need to listen attentively to others around us to learn who we are that they aren’t. And we must listen for the echoes from the depths of our own souls, the resonant vibrations that give voice to our authentic, God-given self, our own divine spark, our connection with the Higher Power.

Listening is not the only thing we have to do, but it very well may be the most difficult. A Zen story tells of a master instructing three young students to spend time in total silence. “You may not speak a word,” he said, “from this moment on.”

“I shall not speak at all,” said the first.

“How stupid! Why did you talk?” asked the second.

“I am the only one who hasn’t spoken,” said the third.

In silence you can hear your inner voice telling you the truth.
