For example if you lose your job, you feel devalued. One minute you were a person with a position, gainfully employed, successful, probably supporting others, and the next minute, all these labels are stripped from you. If you’re a mother and you last child has left home, you may have the sense of losing not only you job but also your identity.

During these difficult transition times, you have to begin again to define clearly who you really are. Some transitions are very painful, especially if the change involves loss of a loved one through death or divorce. There is work to do and grieving to endure. Then it’s back to square one and you must make a new beginning.Even though some losses are irreplaceable, we must find ways to move on.
