I have been reading and writing poetry since the second grade. Okay, I wasn’t writing poetry in the second grade, it was more alternate versions of the likes of “Roses are red….” But I was reading it because my wonderful second grade teacher, Mrs. Dodd, made it part of our daily curriculum. We copied famous poems (like The Daffodils<\/a> by Wordsworth) and others. Then we read them aloud.<\/p>\n

Also, my great grandfather on my mother’s side was a published poet\u00a0(some from him at a later time) and my mom was always reciting poetry she loved.<\/p>\n

These early influence stuck. I took a lot of advanced poetry class (while getting by B.S. in Finance). I have gathered and read well over a hundred books of poetry by specific authors and numerous anthologies. I have so many favorites, it will take a long time to get them all into this blog. But I will plod along.<\/p>\n
