Whether our usual posture has been defiant or compliant, impulsive or indecisive, stubbornly opinionated or weakly uncertain, shifting gears is difficult.<\/p>\n

Whatever gains we make will be interrupted by backsliding. At times, we will go too far in the opposite direction. There will be periods when we will have let go of old ways without yet getting a firm hold on new ones.<\/p>\n

Unless we are patient with ourselves and tolerant of our missteps, we may simply give up on improving things. The support of understanding friends can be a big help.<\/p>\n
